Job description
About 5280 High School
5280 High School is Colorado’s only public recovery high school, serving students in recovery from addiction and other life challenges. With a mission rooted in compassion, equity, and empowerment, we provide a trauma-informed, inclusive, and high-engagement academic environment where students thrive. As the largest recovery school in the country, we are proud to lead with both heart and high expectations.
Role Overview
The Full-Time Guest Teacher is a vital member of our instructional team and school community. This role is not a traditional substitute position—instead, the guest teacher is a consistent, embedded classroom presence who supports instructional continuity, co-teaching, student engagement, and the implementation of professional development and coaching models.
This position is ideal for an educator who is collaborative, flexible, student-centered, and interested in trauma-informed teaching. You’ll be part of a supportive, tight-knit school community, making a meaningful difference in students' lives every day.
Key Responsibilities
Provide in-classroom coverage to allow teachers to participate in 1:1 coaching, professional development, and peer observations.
Support co-teaching models, stepping in to assist co-teachers and ensure continuity of instruction.
Assist with the implementation of trauma-informed and restorative instructional strategies.
Offer classroom support during high-need periods or when students require additional adult presence.
Maintain a consistent, caring, and relational approach with students—reinforcing 5280’s core values of recovery, respect, and belonging.
Collaborate with instructional coaches, senior team leads, and classroom teachers to support academic and behavioral goals.
Support school-wide professional learning initiatives
