We are seeking a passionate and motivated Math Teacher to join our team. This educator will play a critical role in developing students’ mathematical understanding, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking, while fostering an environment that encourages curiosity and resilience. This role will integrate the principles of Project-Based Learning (PBL) into mathematics instruction, empowering students to take ownership of their learning through engaging, real-world applications of math concepts.

Overall, the role is about inspiring students to see the relevance of math in their personal, academic, and future professional lives. As a Math Teacher at 5280 High School, you’ll be a mentor, a role model, and an advocate for creating a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.

Job Overview

Instruction & Curriculum Design

  • Develop and deliver engaging math lessons that align with Colorado Academic Standards and integrate physical, social-emotional, and academic development.

  • Use real-world applications to illustrate mathematical concepts such as algebra, geometry, statistics, and quantitative reasoning.

Project-Based Learning

  • Incorporate Project-Based Learning techniques, allowing students to engage in hands-on, authentic projects that deepen their understanding of math.

  • Examples include designing budgets, analyzing data for community initiatives, or modeling real-world problems.

Assessment & Feedback

  • Create and implement both formative and summative assessments to evaluate students’ mathematical understanding and skills.

  • Provide timely, constructive feedback that promotes growth and resilience.

Student Engagement

  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of all students.

  • Provide opportunities for student voice and choice in projects and learning activities.

Social-Emotional Learning

  • Support students’ social and emotional development, using math to foster persistence, problem-solving confidence, and collaboration.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with other teachers to integrate math concepts across the curriculum and participate in interdisciplinary projects.

  • Support the school’s advisement program by serving as a Crew Captain, guiding and mentoring students.

Community Involvement

  • Showcase student projects within the school community and collaborate with community partners to demonstrate the relevance of mathematics.

Job requirements

Qualifications

Required:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Math Education, or a related field.

  • Background check (fingerprint clearance).

  • For applicants without a teaching credential, meeting federal ESSA requirements is necessary.

Preferred:

  • A Master’s degree in Mathematics, Math Education, or a related field.

  • 1+ years of teaching experience or working with students in a similar capacity.

  • Colorado teaching license with appropriate math endorsement (or the ability to obtain one).

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary: $60,000 - $90,000 per year (commensurate with experience). This is a one-year, grant-funded position.

  • Paid Time Off: Approximately four weeks of summer vacation and four weeks of school holidays.
